High Point’s own University is one of 13 colleges and universities within 25 miles of downtown High Point committed to excellence in education. U.S. News and World Report has ranked High Point University at No. 3 among Regional Colleges in the South. Forbes.com ranks HPU in the top 7 percent among "America's Best Colleges." Parade Magazine lists HPU in the top 25 private schools in the nation. The university offers 50 undergraduate majors, 42 undergraduate minors and seven graduate degree programs.
Four of North Carolina’s community colleges are within 25 miles of downtown High Point readying high school graduates for the work place or teaching seasoned professionals new skills. One, Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC), has a campus in downtown High Point as a satellite to its main campus, 7 miles away in Jamestown. GTCC is at the forefront of work force education, fine tuning its course offerings and customizing classes to meet the needs of citizens and businesses in High Point.
High Point's Piedmont Center business park is home to one of ITT's Technical Institutes providing accredited, technology-oriented undergraduate and graduate degree programs that can be used to begin careers in a global, technology-driven culture.
