SAFETY & HEALTH MISSION STATEMENT

The HR Safety & Health Division is totally dedicated to protecting the health and safety of the employees of the City of High Point.  We promote a cultural environment of shared responsibility to effectively identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and minimize the impact of hazardous situations.  This is realized by adherence to basic safety principles, sound management practices, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.  The safety, health and wellness of our employees are our main priority. 

SAFETY & HEALTH STAFF

Responsible for the management of the City of High Point occupational safety and health programs.

Jill Simons, Occupational Health Nurse  336-883-3263
Provides occupational and non-occupational health and wellness programs and services to City employees.

Coordinates the management of worker's compensation claims.

Provides technical and clerical assistance to the Occupational Health Nurses and the Safety & Health Director.

Provides professional and administrative work in the development and administration of the Public Services Department safety programs.

SAFETY

The City provides Personal Protective Equipment to protect employees assigned to positions whose job functions or work area exposures require the use of PPE according to applicable policies, procedures, rules, regulations and standards.

WELLNESS

The City of High Point offers a number of wellness programs to employees.  The primary focus of the programs is on weight management, nutrition, physical activity, prescription drug compliance, tobacco cessation and dental preventative care.  Also offered are employee health fairs, on-site mobile mammogram screening, and flu vaccinations.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

This program provides personal, substance abuse, and financial counseling to city employees and eligible family members.  Family Services of the Piedmont is our EAP provider and can be reached at 336-889-6161 or for additional information, you may access the EAP website:  www.fspcares.org.
