Hours of operation:  Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.

Nathanael S. Morehead Recreation Center was built in 1974.  The center is located adjacent to MHRCthe High Point Police Department on Leonard Street.  Originally the center was named the Leonard Street Recreation Center.  The named was changed in 1992  to honor Nathanael S. Morehead.

Morehead Recreation Center features a gymnasium and 3 activity rooms.  Outdoors you will find two shuffleboard courts, two multipurpose athletic fields, four horseshoe pits and a playground.  A variety of programs and activities are held at the center year round.

The Center is available for rental opportunities to the public when not in use for regular operational programs and activities.  You may rent the Center for reunions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, graduation parties or any type of family gathering you may have.  Call the Center to request a date and obtain rates.

A Day of Art - ages 55+

Learn the historic past of the Reynolda House mansion while walking through its garden of American art. Join us as we take a trip back in history to learn the great past of this historic property.

 

A Day of Nature - ages 40+

Visit the Greensboro Science Center for much more than touring the aquarium, museum and zoo. Don't miss out on a chance to interact with zookeepers, attend live theatrical performances, watch animal enrichment, view stellar shows and more!

 

After School Program - Pre-K through 5th Grades
Monday-Friday
2:30-6p.m.  Fee:$125 per month
Registration Packet            
Quality programming and supervision for children. The program includes homework time, arts and crafts, field trips, guest speakers, movies, physical and educational activities. Afternoon snack and transportation will be provided. Program runs during the school year.

 

AHOY Exercise Program
Tuesdays & Thursdays
11a.m.-12p.m.  Enjoy exercises that include seated exercises as well as stand up aerobics. The class will include line dance exercises. Fellowship with new and old friends as well as limber up those stiff joints. This group also travels bi-monthly to enjoy shopping, food and a fun getaway.

 

AHOY Trip - Hamrick's Bus Week - ages 55+

9a.m.-2p.m.  Hamrick's provides bus groups a day of great shopping at a discounted price. Each member of the group will receive a coupon for 15% off their entire purchases. Must have a minimum of 11 people registered.

 

America's Leaders of Tomorrow Girls Club - ages 10-17
2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month
4-6p.m.  This program works with girls who need positive messages and guidance in their lives. Includes fun field trips, community service projects, speakers and exciting arts and crafts projects. Participants will need to bring money for field trips.

 

Badminton Classes - ages 18+
Wednesday
12-2p.m.  Fee:$4 per class or $40 for the 11-week session
Let the birdie fly! Come out during your lunch break, work up a sweat and have fun. Instructors will be teaching the game of badminton through education, drills, skills and play.

 

Chicks with Sticks: Intro to Crocheting - ages 40+

Still Got It - Spring Basketball League - ages 35+

Fee:$300 per team

Calling all older basketball players who still got game! This is an open league for those who are a little bit older but still have something to prove on the court. We invite all church league teams, work league teams or groups of friends that want to have fun in a quality, affordable adult basketball league. Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays between three recreation centers and the league championship game will be held at Morehead Recreation Center. Times for games to be announced.

 

Summer Day Camp - pre-K-5th grades

This exercise combines targeted body sculpting exercises and high energy cardio work with Latin infused Zumba moves to create calorie torching and strength training fitness. Students will use light weights to enhance rhythm and tone all of their target zones including arms, abs and thighs. Zumba Toning is a perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.
