Hours of operation:
 
Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.

Oakview Recreation Center was built in 1974 and features a gymnasium, activity room, game room, lighted baseball and softball fields, lighted athletic multipurpose field, two lighted tennis courts, two OVRC Building Picturehorseshoe pits, a bocce court, playground and an outdoor shelter with a grill and four picnic tables.

The Center is available for rental opportunities to the public when not in use for regular operational programs and activities.  You may rent the Center for reunions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, graduation parties, or any type of family gathering you may have.  Call the Center to request a date and obtain rates.

Current Programs 

Add Health to our Years (AHOY) Senior Exercise Class - ages 55+
Tuesdays & Thursdays
9-10a.m.  Informational Poster            
A free, basic fitness class offered for those 55 and older that focuses on increasing flexibility, circulation and overall health.

 

After School Program - Pre-K-5th Grades
Monday-Friday
2:30-6p.m.  Fee:$125 per month

Our After School Program provides a fun, safe environment for your child as they complete homework, play gym and outside games, create arts & crafts projects, go on field trips and more. The program operates on days when school is in session. Call us for more program details.

 

Cornhole Open Play - ages 16+

Cornhole is a growing activity played everywhere - the beach, family gatherings, and even in your own backyard! New to the game? Come learn how to play. Are you an old pro? Come show us your skills. All are welcome.

 

Dog Obedience Class - ages 16+

Information & Registration            
Qualified instructors will teach owners and dogs basic commands and socialization skills. Dog must be at least 8-weeks old. Participants must bring their pet's shot record, a 6' non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats.

 

Little Hoops Basketball - ages 5-7
Tuesdays & Saturdays
6:15p.m. or 7:15p.m. Tuesdays, 9:30a.m., 10:30a.m. or 11:30a.m. - Saturdays  Fee:$35 per person

Information & Registration            
Bring your future basketball star out for this fun-filled, instructional league. Youth will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills of basketball and improve their skills all while making friends and having fun! Parent meeting will be on April 14 at 6:15p.m. Practice begins April 18.

Open Mic Night - ages 15+

Listen up! This is a student-focused event allowing an expressive outlet in a supportive, progressive, and artistic atmosphere. An excellent opportunity for emerging poets and writers to flex their skill on the mic or to share a work in progress to further cultivate their voice.

What better way to begin the new year then by getting to know who you are? Learn how to express yourself through poetry/spoken word. We will wrap up with an open mic night on March 6 for you to have the opportunity to let your voice be heard.

 

Pickleball - ages 18+
Monday, Thursday, Friday
9:30-11:30a.m. (Monday & Friday); Learn to Play on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30p.m.  Want to learn to play the hottest game in town? We will have learning opportunities for the newbie and open play times as well. Pickleball is a fun game played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34" at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. Persons need to have good balance and be able to move quickly on a court.

 

Power Dance and Fitness - ages 16+

A dance-infused class that will provide you with an intense cardiovascular and aerobic workout. Using your own body weight as resistance, this complete workout will burn calories and tone muscles. Students are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel.

Parent and child will participate in a fun-filled and very active exercise and fitness class. Each class helps develop gross motor, developmental, and social skills. Parent and child will enjoy parachute play, upbeat music, hoops, obstacle courses, balls, and much more!

 

Stretch-n-Grow, Wobblers - ages 18 mo-2

Teacher Work Day Program - Pre-K-5th grades

Information & Registration            
A safe and fun program for youth on teacher workdays. Each day will have a designated topic or event, and may include gym games, outside play, board and table games, movies and field trips. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and two snacks daily. Additional dates: April 8, 9, 10.

 

Trailblazers - rising 6th-8th grades

June 15, 2015 - August 21, 2015
7:30a.m.-6p.m.  Fee:$65 per week, plus activity fees
Take an adventure with us this summer! Campers will participate in a variety of sports, games, arts and crafts, field trips, and much more. There is a weekly activity fee to cover the field trips which will be announced closer to summer.

 

Walking for Wellness
Wednesday
9:15-11:30a.m.  Walking is an excellent way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The gym will be open for walking to help you walk your way to a healthy you and meet your fitness goals. Just over 18 laps=1 mile.

 

Young Champions - Karate - ages 4-16

6-6:45p.m. (beginners); 6:45-7:30p.m. (yellow & green belt); 7:30-8:15p.m. (blue belt and above)  Fee:$10 registration fee, $7 per class
Deadline for enrollment: 2/19/15
A comprehensive martial arts class that promotes safety, self-awareness, physical fitness, and self-confidence. Testing is available at the end of the session to advance to the next level at an additional fee.

 

Zumba - ages 12+
Mondays & Wednesdays
6:30-7:30p.m.  Fee:$5 per class, $4 students, $40 punch card - 10 classes
Information & Registration            
This is a fun way to get into shape. The routines include interval sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance will be used to help you burn calories, improve your endurance, and tone muscles.
