Summer hours of operation:
Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.

Fall/Winter hours of operation:  Monday & Wednesday, 2:00pm-9:00pm; Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 2:00pm-9:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.  These hours will be in effect during the Guilford County School calendar year. 

Oakview Recreation Center was built in 1974 and features a gymnasium, activity room, game room, lighted baseball and softball fields, lighted athletic multipurpose field, two lighted tennis courts, two OVRC Building Picturehorseshoe pits, a bocce court, playground and an outdoor shelter with a grill and four picnic tables.

The Center is available for rental opportunities to the public when not in use for regular operational programs and activities.  You may rent the Center for reunions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, graduation parties, or any type of family gathering you may have.  Call the Center to request a date and obtain rates.

Current Programs 

Add Health to our Years (AHOY) Senior Exercise Class - ages 55+
Tuesdays & Thursdays
9-10a.m.  A free, basic fitness class offered for those 55 and older that focuses on increasing flexibility, circulation and overall health.


After School Program - Pre-K through 5th Grades
2:30-6p.m.  Fee:$125 per month
Registration Packet            
Our After School Program provides a fun, safe environment for your child as they complete homework, play gym and outside games, create arts & crafts projects, go on field trips and more. The program operates on days when school is in session. Call us for more program details.


Children's Cooking Class - ages 5-12

Information & Registration            
Children will love mixing and creating "no bake" goodies while learning the basics of mixing and measuring. Registration fee includes all tools and ingredients.


Dog Obedience Class
October 21, 2014 - November 25, 2014
7-8p.m.  Fee:$35 per dog/per session
Instructor: Shirley Probert
Information & Registration            
Qualified instructors will teach owners and dogs basic commands and socialization skills. Dog must be at least 8-weeks old. Participants must bring their pet's shot record, a 6' non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats.


Little Flags Football - ages 5-7

Bring your little linebacker out for our flag football league. This instructional league teaches the basic skills of football while stressing participation, teamwork and fun!


Shootin' Tots Basketball - ages 3-4

Have you always wanted to give your little one the opportunity to get started early in basketball? Register your child and get ready to watch them make their first basket or maybe even a slam dunk! Participants will learn the basics of basketball while having fun in this non-competitive league.


Teacher Work Day Program - Grades K-5th

7:30a.m.-6p.m.  Fee:$15 per person/per day + activity fees

Information & Registration            
A safe and fun program for youth on teacher workdays. Each day will have a designated topic or event, and may include gym games, outside play, board and table games, movies and field trips. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and two snacks daily.


Thanksgiving Food Drive
November 3, 2014 - November 24, 2014
2-9p.m. (Monday & Wednesday); 9a.m.-9p.m. (Tuesday & Thursday); 2-6p.m. (Friday); 9a.m.-2p.m. (Saturday)  We will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army through November 24. Items most needed include canned meats, soups, peanut butter and jelly, rice, cereal, canned fruits and canned vegetables. The community is invited to drop off donations during center hours.


Yard Sale
September 27, 2014
Set up begins at 6a.m., 7a.m.-12p.m.  Fee:$10 per space, includes one table, $5 per additional table

Now accepting applications for the fall yard sale. Residents can rent a parking space and sell their wares. Spaces are limited, pre-registration is required.


Young Champions - Karate - ages 4-16
6-6:45p.m. (beginners); 6:45-7:30p.m. (yellow & green belt); 7:30-8:15p.m. (blue belt and above)  Fee:$10 registration fee, $7 per class
Deadline for enrollment: 10/2/14
Specially developed for children and teens, this exciting and comprehensive martial arts system incorporates effective defense techniques and safety awareness.


Zumba - ages 12+
Mondays & Wednesdays
6:30-7:30p.m.  Fee:$5 per class, $4 students, $40 punch card - 10 classes
Information & Registration            
This is a fun way to get into shape. The routines include interval sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance will be used to help you burn calories, improve your endurance, and tone muscles.
