Hours of operation:
 
Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.

Oakview Recreation Center was built in 1974 and features a gymnasium, 3 activity rooms, lighted baseball and softball fields, lighted athletic multipurpose field, two lighted tennis courts, two OVRC Building Picturehorseshoe pits, a bocce court, playground and an outdoor shelter with a grill and two picnic tables.

The Center is available for rental opportunities to the public when not in use for regular operational programs and activities.  You may rent the Center for reunions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, graduation parties, or any type of family gathering you may have.  Call the Center to request a date and obtain rates.

Current Programs 

Add Health to our Years (AHOY) - ages 55+
Tuesdays & Thursdays
9-10a.m.  Informational Poster            
Focus will be on improving circulation, increasing flexibility and boosting overall health in this exercise class designed just for those 55 and older.

 

After School Program - K-5th Grade
Monday-Friday
2:30-6p.m.  Fee:$125 per month + activity fees
Our high quality program offers a variety of activities including gym games, arts & crafts, outside play, cooking, homework assistance and other activities. Transportation is provided. Additional activities will be scheduled throughout the school year for an additional fee. Parents are responsible for daily snacks.

 

Ballet - ages 6-8

Information & Registration            
This beginner ballet class will teach body alignment, ballet terminology, and technique through floor exercises and choreography. The last class we will have a mini recital to show off our dances learned. (November-December session, no class on November 26)

 

Christmas Shopping Day for Kids - K-5th grade

Deadline for enrollment: 12/12
Call all little shoppers! We will accompany participants to Hanes Mall where they will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for friends and family. When we return, we will wrap our gifts! Lunch will be provided. Participants will need to bring money to spend on gifts.

 

Community Fall Festival

Deck the Halls at Oakview! - K-5th grade

Get into the Christmas spirit as we prepare delicious Christmas goodies, play games, make crafts and gifts, and learn the basics of gift wrapping. We will also go see a movie! Lunch will be provided. Participants need to bring 2 snacks.

 

Dog Obedience Class - ages 16+

7-8p.m.  Fee:$35 per dog/per session
Instructor: Shirley Probert
Information & Registration            
Qualified instructors will teach owners and dogs basic commands and socialization skills. Dog must be at least 8-weeks old. Owners must bring their pet's shot record, a 6' non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats.

 

Holiday Craft Bazaar

Deadline for enrollment: Vendors: 12/2
Calling all artists, crafters and shoppers. Shoppers can peruse booths selling unique items from toys, teacher's gifts, jewelry, holiday decorations, sewn items, woodcrafts and much more. If you would like to participate as a vendor, please contact the center to reserve your spot. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day.

 

Jazz - ages 6-8 & 9-13

In a fun and energetic atmosphere, learn fundamental steps and basic vocabulary through exercises and simple combinations. Students will build flexibility, strength, and coordination through proper dance techniques. Students need jazz shoes and comfortable clothing they can move easily in.

 

Lil' Pastry Chefs! - ages 6-12

Don't let the winter blues keep you and your child at home. Join us for a morning of no-bake goodies, story time and other fun activities. Pickleball - ages 18+
Monday, 10a.m.-1p.m., Tuesday & Thursday, 10a.m.-2p.m., Friday, 10a.m.-1p.m., Saturday and Sunday varies - please call ahead.  Want to learn to play the hottest game in town? Easy to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced competitive game for experienced players.

R.A.W. Program - K-5th Grade
Tuesdays & Thursdays
3:30-4p.m.  Open to students who need assistance in reading comprehension, math, writing and handwriting. Parent will meet with tutor prior to sessions beginning to personalize student's path and develop goals. Tutoring begins September 15.

 

Shootin' Tots Basketball - ages 3-4

Thanksgiving Food Drive
November 2, 2015 - November 23, 2015
9a.m.-9p.m. (Monday-Thursday); 9a.m.-6p.m. (Friday); 9a.m.-2p.m. (Saturday)  We will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army through November 23. Items needed include pasta, soup, cereal, canned fruit and vegetables, and canned meat.

 

Walking for Wellness

9:15-11:30a.m.  Walking is an excellent way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The gym will be open to help you walk your way to a healthy you and meet your fitness goals. Just over 18 laps=1 mile.

Do you need to clear some space in your garage or attic? Are you looking for baby, household, or other unique items? Our yard sale is the place for you. We are currently accepting applications for vendors. Space is limited.

 

Young Champions - Karate - ages 4-16

6-6:45p.m. (beginners); 6:45-7:30p.m. (yellow & green belt); 7:30-8:15p.m. (blue belt and above)  Fee:$8 registration fee, $7 per class
A comprehensive martial arts class that promotes safety, self-awareness, physical fitness, and self-confidence. Testing is available at the end of the session to advance to the next level at an additional fee. Current session runs through September 17. New session begins September 24.

 

Zumba - ages 12+
Mondays & Wednesdays
6:30-7:30p.m.  Fee:$5 per class, $4 students, $20 (5) session card, $40 (10) session card
Information & Registration            
This is a fun way to get into shape. The routines include interval sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance will be used to help you burn calories, improve your endurance, and tone muscles.
