Hours of operation:
Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.

Oakview Recreation Center was built in 1974 and features a gymnasium, 3 activity rooms, lighted baseball and softball fields, lighted athletic multipurpose field, two lighted tennis courts, two OVRC Building Picturehorseshoe pits, a bocce court, playground and an outdoor shelter with a grill and two picnic tables.

The Center is available for rental opportunities to the public when not in use for regular operational programs and activities.  You may rent the Center for reunions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, graduation parties, or any type of family gathering you may have.  Call the Center to request a date and obtain rates.

Current Programs 

Add Health to our Years (AHOY) Senior Exercise Class - ages 55+
Tuesdays & Thursdays
9-10a.m.  Informational Poster            
A free, basic fitness class offered for those 55 and older that focuses on increasing flexibility, circulation and overall health.


After School Program - pre-K-5th Grades
2:30-6p.m.  Fee:$125 per month
Registration Packet            
Our After School Program provides a fun, safe environment for your child as they complete homework, play gym and outside games, create arts & crafts projects, go on field trips and more. The program operates on days when school is in session. Call us for more program details.


Ballet - ages 6-8

7-7:45p.m.  Fee:$35 per person

Information & Registration            
This beginner ballet class will teach body alignment, ballet terminology, and technique through floor exercises and choreography. The last class we will have a mini recital to show off our dances learned.


Cornhole Open Play - ages 16+

Cornhole is a growing activity played everywhere - the beach, family gatherings, and even in your own backyard! New to the game? Come learn how to play. Are you an old pro? Come show us your skills. All are welcome.


Dog Obedience Class - ages 16+

7-8p.m.  Fee:$35 per dog/per session
Instructor: Shirley Probert
Information & Registration            
Qualified instructors will teach owners and dogs basic commands and socialization skills. Dog must be at least 8-weeks old. Owners must bring their pet's shot record, a 6' non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats.


Little Hoops Basketball - ages 5-7
Tuesdays & Saturdays
6:15p.m. or 7:15p.m. Tuesdays, 9:30a.m., 10:30a.m. or 11:30a.m. - Saturdays  Fee:$35 per person

Information & Registration            
Bring your future basketball star out for this fun-filled, instructional league. Youth will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills of basketball and improve their skills all while making friends and having fun! Parent meeting will be on April 14 at 6:15p.m. Practice begins April 18.


Oakview Community Garden

Pickleball - ages 18+
Want to learn to play the hottest game in town? Pickleball is easy to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced competitive game for experienced players. Schedule: Mondays - all levels of play - 9:30-11:30a.m.; Tuesdays - 3.0 & above skill level - 10a.m.-1:30p.m.; Wednesday - all levels of play - 11:30a.m.-2p.m.; Thursdays - 3.0 & above skill level - 10a.m.-1:30pm; Thursdays - learn to play - 6:30-9:30p.m.; Fridays - all levels of play - 9:30a.m.-11:30am; Saturdays (beginning 3/7) - all levels of play - 9:15a.m.-12p.m.


Power Dance and Fitness - ages 16+
6:30-7:15p.m.  Fee:$5 per person/per class
Information & Registration            
A dance-infused class that will provide you with an intense cardiovascular and aerobic workout. Using your own body weight as resistance, this complete workout will burn calories and tone muscles. Students are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel.


Pre-Ballet - ages 3-5

Summer Day Camp - pre-K-5th Grades

7:30a.m.-6p.m.  Fee:$65 per week, plus activity fees

Teacher Work Day Program - Pre-K-5th grades

Information & Registration            
A safe and fun program for youth on teacher workdays. Each day will have a designated topic or event, and may include gym games, outside play, board and table games, movies and field trips. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and two snacks daily. 4/6 - crafts, egg hunt, cooking project (activity fee $5); 4/7 - Triad Park; 4/8 - NC Zoo (activity fee $8); 4/9 - movie and pizza party (activity fee $2).


Trailblazers Camp - Rising 6th-8th Grades
June 15, 2015 - August 21, 2015
7:30a.m.-6p.m.  Fee:$65 per week, plus activity fees

Take an adventure with us this summer! Campers will participate in a variety of sports, games, arts and crafts, field trips, and much more. There is a weekly activity fee to cover the field trips which will be announced closer to summer.


Walking for Wellness
9:15-11:30a.m.  Walking is an excellent way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The gym will be open to help you walk your way to a healthy you and meet your fitness goals. Just over 18 laps=1 mile.


Yard Sale
May 16, 2015
Set up begins at 6a.m., 7a.m.-12p.m.  Fee:$10 per space, includes one table, $5 per additional table

Now accepting applications for the spring yard sale. Residents can rent a parking space and sell their wares. Spaces are limited, pre-registration is required.


Yoga for All - ages 16+

6:30-7:30p.m.  Fee:$40 per person/per 4-week session, April cost - $50 per person/per session (5 weeks)

Information & Registration            
All levels are welcome in this flow yoga class that will work all parts of your body and teach proper alignment. With a combination of breaths and movement, relax the mind and re-energize your body. Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, towel, and water bottle.


Zumba - ages 12+
Mondays & Wednesdays
6:30-7:30p.m.  Fee:$5 per class, $4 students, $40 punch card - 10 classes
Information & Registration            
This is a fun way to get into shape. The routines include interval sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance will be used to help you burn calories, improve your endurance, and tone muscles.
