Community Center hours of operation:
  Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm; Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm.

Washington Terrace Park is a 27 acre park located in the central area of High Point. The park opened to the public in 1937. Since that time the park has undergone many improvements including the addition of a Community Center in 1998.IMG

The park features a 25 yard by 50 meter swimming pool with a waterslide, bath house and viewing terrace, three unlighted tennis courts, seven picnic shelters, two lighted basketball courts, a regulation softball field, performing stage, outdoor fitness stations, community building, six horseshoe pits, sand volleyball court, two playgrounds, regulation size football field, Greenway trail, a concession area and a lot of open play and activity space.

Areas of the park may be rented for the exclusive use of your group. Rentals are confirmed on a first paid, first served basis.  Area day care centers, churches, day camps, families, special interest groups and businesses frequently rent areas of the park. Call the park to request a date and obtain rates.

Anyone renting the pool must employ the required number of lifeguards from the Washington Terrace lifeguard staff. The rental rate does not include lifeguard cost.

The park sponsors craft days, concerts, athletic contests and tournaments, swim meets and a Learn to Swim program. There are also a variety of programs and activities held year round at the park and in the Community Center.

The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The pool is open Monday through Saturday from 12:00pm-6:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm during the summer months. Playgrounds and the park's open space are available year round for drop-in use or for reservation. The Picnic areas and athletic facilities are available to the public by reservation only.

Ice Bowl Disc Golf Event
January 24, 2015
9:30a.m.-5p.m.  Fee:10 cans of food for local food bank + $2 per person
Bundle up and come play winter disc golf on a temporary course! We will observe the national "No Wimps, No Whiners" tradition of playing no matter the weather - rain, snow, or perfect conditions. This is a random draw doubles event.


MLK Balloons Launching
January 19, 2015
10:30a.m.-12p.m.  In honor and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 86th birthday, 86 balloons will be released by attendees. Join us for this uplifting family event, which will also feature a speaker, dance groups and light refreshments.


Turkey Toss Hot Shot Contest - ages 8-18
November 28, 2014
11a.m.-1p.m.  Fee:$1 per person for 20 free throw shots, (20) 3 pointers, (20) lay-ups
Work off some of that leftover turkey shooting basketball! Participants will shoot baskets at three spots to achieve a total score. Age brackets will be 10 & under, 14 & under and 18 & under. Awards will be presented to the top 3 finalists per age group.


Walkers Club - ages 50+
November 25, 2014
11a.m.-12p.m.  Walking is a great way to get exercise. In observance of National Diabetes Month, people of all ages and fitness levels are invited to come walk the half-mile track. The first 15 people to request a pedometer will receive one free. Program is open to adults striving to stay active and support healthier living.
