What do I need to do to become an active Vendor/Supplier with the City of High Point?
To become an active vendor with the City compile an online Vendor Registration.

 

Do I have to have a Business License to operate?
Businesses operating within the city limits must obtain a City of High Point Business License.  Contact the Business License Department at 336-883-3205 for more information.

 

Are bid tabulations available for public inspection?
Bid Tabulations are available at the Purchasing Division’s web site by choosing the Bid Tabulations link.

 

How does the City support Minority and Women-Owned Businesses?

The City of High Point is pro-active in encouraging purchases of goods and services from certified minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) as well as soliciting their participation in City construction bids. For assistance with purchases of goods and services or construction bids, contact the Purchasing Division at purchasing@highpointnc.gov or (336) 883-3219.  Minority contractors interested in bidding on City construction contracts must be registered with the North Carolina Historically Underutilized Business Division of the Department of Administration.

 

How can I find out about upcoming bids?
Current bids, requests for proposals for services, and construction bids are advertised on the City's web site at Current Bid Opportunities.

 

Are Local Governments allowed to participate in State contracts?
Yes, the State of North Carolina allows all local governments to participate in any of their contracts for the purchase of supplies and equipment.  See the North Carolina Division of Purchase and Contracts for information regarding these contracts. Are City personnel allowed to purchase items without a purchase order?
Yes, some City personnel are issued a City of High Point procurement card which gives them authorization to make certain purchases in accordance with City Purchasing Procedures. Currently, Bank of America provides this procurement card service for the City, and the cards can be used with suppliers that accept Visa credit cards.

 

Does the City pay sales tax?
Yes, the City is required to pay North Carolina state and local sales taxes. Our purchase orders do not reflect these taxes; however, all applicable taxes should be included on invoices.

 

Who processes invoice payments for the City?
The City's Financial Services Division handles invoice payments with standard payment terms of Net 30 days.

How does the City dispose of Surplus Property?

Currently, the City of High Point holds annual auctions for disposal of surplus supplies & equipment. Most surplus vehicles are now sold by online auction via GovDeals For more information, see Surplus Equipment Auctions.
