Day-to-Day Operations
911 Telecommunicators work in a unique, fast-paced and dynamic work environment, and serve as a vital link between the community and Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services by answering 911 and non-emergency calls, and using a state-of-the-art digital communications system to dispatch Fire and Police responders. Our communications center operates 24 hours each day, every day of the year. Telecommunicators work on weekends, and holidays, and work is never cancelled due to severe weather! All of our Telecommunicators work rotating shifts, that is, assignments that change regularly from working during the day to working at night.

If you can:
  • Type at least 30 words per minute
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Pass a polygraph and psychological examination
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment
