High Point Greenway


The High Point Greenway is a 3.25 mile paved trail beginning at Armstrong Park and ending at University Park. A new 1.3 mile segment from University Park to Piedmont Environmental Center is under construction and is scheduled to be completed in March, 2019.

The High Point Greenway can be accessed at the following locations:
  • Armstrong Park
  • Kirkman Park School
  • University Park (1800 Deep River Road) Closed for construction.
Distances:
  • Armstrong Park (305 E. Parkway Avenue) to University park (1800 Deep River Road) - approximately 3.25 miles
  • 311 Bypass to Deep River Road - approximately .5 miles
  • Under Construction - 1.3 miles from University Park to Penny Road, estimated completion date March, 2019 

Bicentennial Greenway 

The High Point section of the Bicentennial Greenway begins south of the Piedmont Environmental Center and runs to Gallimore Dairy Rd. The greenway then travels through Greensboro, connecting to the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.

  • Piedmont Environmental Center (1220 Penny Road) to Piedmont Parkway - 5.2 miles
  • Piedmont Environmental Center (1220 Penny Road) to Gibson Park (5207 W. Wendover Avenue, Jamestown) - 3.28 mile
  • Gibson Park (5207 W. Wendover Avenue, Jamestown) to Gallimore Dairy Road - 2.9 miles

Natural Surface Trails

High Point offers 11 miles of natural surface trail through the hardwood and pine forest, and lakeside habitats.

These trails can be accessed from:

  • Piedmont Environmental Center (1220 Penny Road)
  • Bicentennial Greenway near Jamestown Park (7041 E. Fork Road, Jamestown)
  • Bicentennial Greenway at Gibson Park (5207 W. Wendover Avenue, Jamestown)

South Preserve Distances:

  • Bill Favor Lakeshore Trail (white marker) - 1.8 miles
  • Fiddlehead Trail (yellow marker) - .2 miles
  • Pine Thicket Trail (red marker) - .2 miles
  • Dogwood Trail (orange marker) - .4 miles
  • Chickadee Trail (green marker) - .3 miles
  • Raccoon Run Trail (blue marker) - .6 miles
  • Wildflower Trail (purple marker) - .4 miles

North Preserve Distances:

  • Deep River Trail (red/white marker) - 2.3 miles
  • Hollis Roger Pine Woods Trail (orange/green marker) - .4 mile

West End Cross Country Course & Walking Trail

A 1.5 mile natural surface walking trail is located at West End Park (1701 Edgewood Drive).

This course can be reserved by groups for a cross country meet for $100 per meet. Please call 336-883-3480 to check availability.

Allen Jay Recreation Center and Park (1073. E. Springfield Road) - 1 loop =.5 miles

Burnett Park (1051 Montlieu Avenue) - 1 loop = .3 miles

Washington Street Park - 1 loop around playground = .10 mile

Washington Terrace Park - 1 loop = .3 miles

All trails & greenways are open from sunrise to sunset.

Regulations

  • Unauthorized motor vehicles, alcoholic beverages, drugs, and openly displayed weapons are prohibited.
  • Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times.
  • Bikes must stay on trails to avoid damage to vegetation and wildlife habitat.
