High Point Parks & Recreation is seeking energetic and top-quality individuals for various seasonal employment opportunities. From summer camp counselor and lifeguard positions, to park attendants and grill room staff, Parks & Recreation needs employees with a variety of experience and qualifications. We offer Red Cross training for anyone needing to obtain their lifeguard certification.

AQUATIC STAFF 

AT HIGH POINT CITY LAKE PARK AND WASHINGTON TERRACE PARK

**Pool Managers 
  • Duties include supervision of open swim operations; development of classes, swim teams and rental agreements; supervision of maintenance operations and lifeguards; keep records of attendance, revenue, chemical levels.
  • Hourly wage depends upon qualifications and experience.
  • Must have Certified Pool Operators Certification and previous experience with pool management and programming.
  • Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, First Aid and CPR certifications prior to pool opening.
  • Position available April – September, 40 hour work from May-August, including weekends and holidays.
**Assistant Pool Managers
  • Hourly wage – starting at $12 per hour, based on experience. 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have Certified Pool Operators Certification and previous experience with pool management and programming.
  • Must be available weekends starting in early May.
  • Requires Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications, previous pool management and programming experience preferred.
  • Serves as Lifeguard as needed.
  • Duties – assist pool manager in supervision of pool staff, swim and maintenance operations, swim lesson plans and maintain records of attendance and revenue.
  • Supervises operations in absence of Pool Manager.
**Lifeguards
  • Duties include monitoring pool patrons, pool maintenance, swim instruction and other duties as required.
  • Must have current Red Cross Life Guard Certification, first aid and CPR certifications.
  • Hourly wage - $9-$13 per hour, based on experience, 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays.
  • Scheduled hours are:
  • Weekends beginning the middle of May, 15 hours per weekend.
  • Weekdays and weekends (full weeks) June-August, 36-40 hours per week.
  • Weekends from the end of August to Labor Day, 15 hours per weekend.
Pool Attendants – High Point City Lake Pool
  • Duties include operating pool concessions, gate cashier, maintenance and operations of concessions and waterslides, and customer service.
  • Position requires applicant to be 18 years of age or older.
  • Hourly wage - $7.50 per hour.
  • Scheduled hours are:
  • Weekends beginning the middle of May, 15 hours per weekend.
  • Weekdays and weekends (full weeks) June-August, 36-40 hours per week.
  • Weekends from the end of August to Labor Day, 15 hours per weekend.
Pool Attendants – Washington Terrace Pool
  • Duties include operating pool concessions, gate cashier, maintenance and operations of concessions and waterslides, and customer service.
  • Assist with waterslide operation. 
  • Position requires applicant to be 18 years of age or older.
  • Hourly wage - $7.50 per hour.
  • Scheduled hours are:
  • Weekends beginning the middle of May, 15 hours per weekend.
  • Weekdays and weekends (full weeks) June-August, 36-40 hours per week.
  • Weekends from the end of August to Labor Day, 15 hours per weekend.
**PLEASE NOTE:  ALL Lifeguards, Assistant Pool Managers and Pool Managers must be certified by the American Red Cross for First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Water Safety class prior to opening day of the pool. SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

Summer Camp Counselors – approximately 9 positions

  • Duties include supervision of participants in a summer camp setting; participating in all activities with campers; supervision on field trips; behavior management; planning and leading activities.
  • Sites – Oakview, Allen Jay, and Deep River Recreation Centers.
  • Hourly wage depends upon qualifications and experience, 40-hour work week.
  • Candidate must be available 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule, Monday-Friday.
  • Employment: June – August.
  • Requires a valid NC Driver’s License, ability to drive a 15-passenger van, must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience working with elementary and middle school aged children is preferred. 

Camp Ann Staff

  • Hiring Director, Assistant Director, and Counselors for Camp Ann, a summer camp for children and adults with disabilities.
  • Duties include leading activities and programs, and driving a 15 passenger van.
  • Requires a valid NC Driver’s License, ability to drive a 15-passenger van, must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Prefer individuals who have worked in a therapeutic camp setting with people of differing abilities.
  • Hourly wage depends upon qualifications and experience.
  • Employment: June – August, Monday-Friday.

  • Duties include regular maintenance of Golf Course.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license.

Seasonal Park Attendants – Oak Hollow Tennis Center
  • Duties include greeting tennis patrons, opening and closing of the facility, taking reservations, collect and count fees, record tennis lesson registrations and receipts, preparing daily expense and revenue reports/deposits, load and unload items and equipment, assist in preparing the clay courts, and assist in daily clean-up of all tennis facilities.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Hourly wage – starting at $7.25 per hour. 20-30 hours per week.

  • Great opportunity for college intern to learn more about natural history, ecology and geography of North Carolina.
  • Duties include: Assisting with summer camps at PEC, educating school-age children about nature in the Piedmont NC through different activities, oversee field trips with the Advanced Nature Camp.
  • Requires applicant to be at least 18 years of age, a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, knowledge of nature, ability to work with school aged children.
  • Hourly wage depends upon qualifications and experience, 40 hour work week.
