Winter Wipeout

Wipe out litter during the winter!

Keep High Point Beautiful and the City of High Point are excited to add another litter cleanup opportunity! In 2017 we introduced the Winter Wipeout as a new and easy way to help beautify High Point, take care of the environment and serve our community. During the winter months, trash that has been hidden by vegetation is revealed. While many trees, vines and flowers lay dormant, we are better able to see and reach what has been hidden for weeks or possibly months.

Check back on this page in January to see when Winter Wipeout will take place in 2018!

The cleanup time frame is three weeks and allows for volunteers to choose when it is most convenient for them to clean up! The dates for the 2018 Winter Wipeout will be posted on this page in January of 2018. During the time frame you can pick up your supplies and perform a cleanup when it works best for you/your group.
How it will work:
  • Keep High Point Beautiful will compile a list of litter hotspots based on community reporting.
  • Once we have received your litter hotspot (street, stream, etc.) we will post it to our online Winter Wipeout Map.
  • The Winter Wipeout Map has some areas for groups to select from if you do not wish to submit your own litter hotspot.
  • Keep High Point Beautiful will provide trash & recycling bags, gloves, safety vests, and grabbers/reachers to participating groups.
  • Sites must be cleaned up anytime between the set time frame (check back in January of 2018).
  • When the cleanup is complete, report the number of bags collected and number of volunteers who participated by emailing the info to rebecca.coplin@highpointnc.gov
  • Please leave all bags on the side of the road and place bags together when possible. Please do not block sidewalks.

If you have any questions please contact Rebecca Coplin 336-883-3520 or rebecca.coplin@highpointnc.gov

Many thanks to Lynn Leonard and Greensboro Beautiful for their willingness to share this cleanup model with us!!
