Halloween Hoopla

Thursday-Saturday, October 15 - 17, 2020

Halloween Hoopla is a three-day event featuring a Virtual Costume Contest, Community Scarecrow Scene Contest and a Great Pumpkin Hunt in some of our local parks! We will also offer a Trunk-or-Treat Drive-Thru event. Registration is required for the Virtual Costume and Scarecrow Scene Contests.

Virtual Costume Contest - Thursday, October 15

Ages 12 & under and ages 13 - 18
The three categories you can compete in are: Scariest, Best Super Hero, Most Unique.
Contestants must pre-register for the category they wish to compete in. Registration is limited and required by Monday, October 12.
Contest times are as follows:
6:15 p.m. Most Unique
7 p.m. Scariest
7:45 p.m. Best Super Hero
Virtual invitations will be emailed to each contestant.

Community Scarecrow Scene Contest - Thursday, October 15

Get in the community spirit and create the best scarecrow scene in our Scarecrow Contest!
The three judged categories for this competition will be: Best Scarecrow Scene, Scariest Scarecrow Scene, Prettiest Scarecrow Scene.
Only select areas qualify to register for this contest. Zip codes that qualify are 27260, 27262, 27263, 27265, 27282.
Pre-registration is required and scenes must be complete by midnight Wednesday, October 14. Staff will visit the competitors to judge their creations. Registration is limited and required by Tuesday, October 13.

The Great Pumpkin Hunt - Friday, October 16

Explore some of our parks while participating in The Great Pumpkin Hunt from 3 - 6 p.m. We will be hiding pumpkins in eight participating Parks & Recreation facilities. Each participant is allowed one pumpkin to take home, plus one small prize, but if you find a golden pumpkin you will win a bigger prize! We recommend the use of face masks and physical distancing. Rain date for The Great Pumpkin Hunt is Friday, October 23.

Trunk-or-Treat - Saturday, October 17

High Point Athletic Complex, 2920 School Park Road, 3 - 6 p.m.
Wear your costume and trunk-or-treat from your car! Treats will be passed out from the trunks of our festively decorated vehicles. Masks are recommended for participants. Don't forget your candy bag to collect all your goodies.

Volunteer Trunkers are needed to decorate their vehicles and pass out candy to the children. If you would like to volunteer, as an individual or a group, please Register online.
