High Point Planning & Development Department
The High Point Planning & Development Department can provide information about:
  • Commercial Development
The Inspection Services Division prepared monthly reports of building permit activity through August 2015, which provide information on the size, location and construction cost by square foot for new commercial development and expansions. In addition, the yearly trends of commercial permit activity are highlighted in the department’s annual report.

High Point Economic Development Corporation
The High Point Economic Development Corp. can provide information about:

The High Point Economic Development Corporation issues an annual report each year that highlights the capital investment that occurred and the new jobs created in the City of High Point. Other features include listings of High Point's major employers and largest taxpayers.

N.C. Division of Employment Security
The N.C. Division of Employment Security can provide information about:

The State DES publishes the top 25 employers for each county on a quarterly basis through their Demand Driven Data Delivery (D4) system. They also provide access to annual and quarterly data for total and average weekly wages by industry for the state, counties, metropolitan statistical areas (MSA), economic development regions, planning regions, and workforce development areas.

N.C. State Data Center
The N.C. State Data Center can provide information about:

The following data is available at the state, county and municipal level on the Log Into North Carolina (LINC) website. To access the data follow the instructions on each screen. The source of the information is described at the bottom of each report.

N.C. Department of Revenue
The N.C. Department of Revenue can provide information about:
  • Sales/Receipts
The State Department of Revenue produces monthly sales and use tax statistics by county and business classification. They also provide a variety of tax publications, reports and statistics related to tax revenue and collections.

U.S. Census Bureau
The U.S. Census Bureau can provide information about:

  • Payrolls/Wages
  • Sales/Receipts
The Census Bureau provides economic data every five years as part of the Economic Census, which was completed most recently in 2012. It provides the number of establishments, sales/receipts, annual payroll, and number of employees by 2012 NAICS code for the nation, states, metropolitan statistical areas (MSA), counties, and economic places (cities).

The Census also provides a variety of data on an annual basis as part of its Business Patterns data set, including the number of establishments, number of employees, and payroll by 2012 NAICS code for the nation, states, metropolitan statistical areas (MSA), counties, and zip codes.

Both sets of data are available on the American Factfinder website. The tables include all industry sectors by default, resulting in a large table. However, the search can be narrowed by industry code.
