National Register of Historic Places Nomination

The High Point Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will consider the nomination application for the Melrose Hosiery Mill No. 1, 1533-1547 W. English Rd. and 105-109 S. West Point Av. and will make a recommendation as to whether the property meets the criteria for listing in the National Register of Historic Places based upon the information presented in the application and on any public comments submitted. The HPC recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council.

The City Council will consider the recommendation of the HPC and will make a recommendation to the NC National Register Advisory Committee as to whether the property meets the criteria for listing based upon the information presented in the application and on any public comments submitted.

The Melrose Hosiery Mill Nomination Application (PDF) is available for public review and comment. All public comments on the nomination application must be submitted by Monday, August 17, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.

Comments can be submitted by emailing comments to build@highpoint.gov or publiccomment@highpointnc.gov, or by calling 336-883-3522 and leaving a voice message. Written comments can also be placed in the City of High Point’s utility payment drop-boxes located on both sides of the Municipal Building located at 211 S. Hamilton Street in the E. Green Drive and the Commerce Avenue parking lots.
