There are many options for recycling drop-offs in High Point. Not just of materials that are taken curbside, but also for other items that should be disposed of in different ways.
Recycling Convenience Sites
The City operates 17 Recycling Convenience Sites that allow for the disposal of residential curbside recycling. These are great for residents that live in multi-family dwelling that might not have access to recycling, or can be utilized by those who just don't have enough room in their green recycling carts. Acceptable items in at these locations need to follow our recycling guidelines .
Thanks to a partnership with Tiny House Community Development, Inc. residents may now drop off their clean and dry Styrofoam packaging in our Styrofoam Drop-off program locations and more information is available here
Please make sure to only place clean foam takeout containers, packaging, egg cartons, and ridged Styrofoam like coolers. No pluck foam, flexible foam wrapping, peanuts or bubble wrap will be allowed.
This trailer is only for Styrofoam and no other plastics. As always, if you are in doubt, please throw it out.
Certain household wastes are not accepted in curbside collection, because they can be hazardous to our environment and collection workers. The City has established a Household Hazardous Waste program to provide residents the opportunity to properly dispose of these wastes at our facility on E. MLK Jr. Drive for free with proof of residency.
This program also accepts electronics and tires more information is available here
