Citizens Academy

About the Program
This 14 week program gives citizens and the High Point Police Officers who serve as instructors an opportunity to interact and learn from each other. Classes meet every Tuesday from 7 to 10 p.m. Through attendance and participation in the High Point Police Departments Citizen Academy:
  • Citizens will be able to make more informed judgments about the Police Department and law enforcement activities.
  • The Police Department will become more aware of the interpretations and concerns of the community they serve.
  • Citizens and Police personnel will have an opportunity to gain a better understanding about the legal and constitutional guidelines police officers must follow in performing their duties.
Participants cannot miss more than 3 classes, and are required to do a ride-along with a High Point Police Department patrol officer.

To participate in the Citizen’s Police Academy, you must:
  • Be 18 years old or older;
  • Provide valid ID;
