Ride-A-Long Program

About the Program

The Ride-A-Long program allows members of the public to ride with a police officer for a shift. The program is open to citizens age 16 or above with a clean criminal record. Participants are allowed to ride once per year.

Come experience a day or night in the life of a police officer as they respond to calls and conduct field contacts and traffic stops. Participants will come away with a better understanding of the duties and responsibilities of High Point Police Officers.

High Point Police Explorer members will be able to take advantage of the Department’s Ride-A-Long Program. This Program is designed to show the Explorer how everything he/she learns in training is put to use on the streets by a Police Officer. Each Explorer can earn up to 2 Ride-A-Longs during summer months, and 1 Ride-A-Long during school months. This Program is a good tool to use in order to understand the demands of Law Enforcement.

Please fill out the Ride-A-Long Form (PDF) and bring it to the Police Department at:
1009 Leonard Avenue
