High Point Big Sweep focuses on litter removal from our streets, streams, lakes and shorelines, parks and the Greenway.
This year on October 5 we had 428 people volunteer! Those volunteers helped remove over 21,720 pounds of trash and debris and 840 pounds of recycling.
Volunteers also donated 256 food items to aid in the fight against hunger in High Point.
Can't wait to see you next year!
On August 10, 2019, designated High Point Police Department and High Point Fire Department personnel drove through the city on the lookout for residents removing litter from their neighborhoods and/or beautifying the exterior of their home/property. This initative: Summer Trash Smash rewarded residents who were "caught green handed" with a gift card from one of our wonderful sponsors. This was the third year of this program and it continues to show growth!
Our new Youth Advisory Council Members have already had a chance to work with us at National Night Out and Summer Trash Smash. We are very excited to offer them to chance to learn more about the specific environmental challenges that we face in our community and collaborate with them on their ideas and visions for our future.
The Great American Cleanup was a big success! We are so grateful for all of the support from sponsors and community volunteers. Thank you to all who took part in making such a difference in our city. These are the 2019 results. Stay tuned for next year.
