What's Happening Now?

2019 KHPB Youth Council Members

Welcome to Our New Youth Advisory Council Members

A BIG welcome to our brand new Youth Advisory Council Members: Jasmine Burke and Joseph Funderburk! We are very excited to offer them to chance to learn more about the specific environmental challenges that we face in our community and collaborate with them on their ideas and visions for our future.

Arbor Day and Tree Dedication

This year for Arbor Day we planted two trees at Council Street Park. One was planted in honor of Arbor Day, the other was planted in honor of our two Youth Advisory Council Members who are graduating and moving on to college- Mary Gilpin and Lakin Stevens. We wish them the best of luck in their bright futures. Thanks to all that came out!

Environmental Sculpture Installation and Unveiling

You may have noticed a new addition at the High Point Public Library- a sculpture of two otters. This was installed on April 27th and filled with select garbage collected during the Great American Cleanup. It is designed to serve as a visual and artistic teaching tool highlighting the impact of litter on native animal species. It was made possible by The Theatre Arts Galleries, High Point Library, Friends of the Library and City of High Point Environmental Services.

The Great American Cleanup was a big success! We are so grateful for all of the support from sponsors and community volunteers. Thank you to all who took part in making such a difference in our city. These are the 2019 results. Stay tuned for next year.
