Online Collections

The High Point Museum provides online access to its collections in many ways. Using the links below, you can search a portion of our collections database, view online exhibits, and flip through local newspapers and city directories.
Online Collections Database
The High Point Museum cares for over 37,000 artifacts, photographs, and archival collections. The Online Collections Database contains information about and photographs of a selection of those items. The Database is a work in progress and is frequently updated. Please contact the Museum for the most complete information about the collection. The contents of the Database are presented for educational and research use only and may not be reproduced without the consent of the High Point Museum.

Do you recognize a person or place in one of the Museum’s photographs?
The Museum is always working to identify the people and places shown in our photographs and we often rely on visitors for these identifications. If you can help, please contact the Museum using the Feedback Form available on each Database record.
Do you want to request a copy of an image?
If you would like to request a copy of an image in the Database, please use the Request Image link below the image to contact the Museum. For more information about reproduction and use of images, please see the Image Use Policy. Images may not be used without the consent of the High Point Museum.

Beginning in 2014, the High Point Museum and the High Point Public Library’s Heritage Research Center began digitizing newspapers, city directories, pamphlets, scrapbooks, and other archival materials through the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center at UNC-Chapel Hill. Thanks to this service, many of our materials, as well as materials from other museums and libraries across North Carolina, are available online through DigitalNC. You can access materials from the Museum and Public Library through the links below.

The High Point Museum uses HistoryPin to address the question, “Why does High Point look the way it does?” On HistoryPin, you can compare past and present High Point by viewing historic images alongside current street views.  As more images in the Museum’s collections are digitized, they will be added to our Historypin profile.  Check back often to see what’s new.

Online Exhibits
The High Point Museum’s Online Exhibits use photographs and other artifacts to illustrate the many stories of High Point. Current exhibits highlight local sports, City Lake Park, High Point Normal and Industrial Institute, and many other topics. New exhibits are frequently added and can be found here.
