Animal Traces: Scats, Skulls and Tracks
Have you ever been on a hike or in your backyard and stumbled across some animal scat or tracks that you know didn’t belong to your pet? Come hang out with a PEC Naturalist for a couple of hours and learn the basics of animal tracking and identifying local native animals from the signs they leave behind. We will examine tangible biofacts in the auditorium and then embark on a 1 hour and 15 minute tracking hike along 4 different trails. Using "trace trays" you will learn the art of track identification. We hope to also find wild tracks, scat or other traces to aid in practical identification of local fauna. Registration for this class is required by May 8.
