High Point, N.C. – High Point Economic Development Corporation (High Point EDC) announces Cone Health Allergy and Asthma Center will relocate from 100 Westwood Ave. to 400 N. Elm St. This expansion will retain 14 employees and create four new positions over 18 months with an average annual salary of $80,500.
Cone Health Allergy and Asthma Center is a minority-run medical practice with five locations in the Piedmont Triad. Established in High Point in 1977 by Dr. Jose Bardelas, the Center has been at the Westwood Ave. location since 1982 and has expanded to Greensboro, Asheboro, Reidsville, and Oak Ridge over the years.
Insured, uninsured, Medicare and Medicaid patients are all welcome. On average, the High Point facility sees 400 patients per week.
The new positions will include another full-time allergy and asthma physician, a full-time nurse practitioner, as well as a medical assistant and a billing clerk. Currently, the High Point practice has five allergists under the age of 40.
Locating on N. Elm St. provides proximity to a bus line, from which many of its patients arrive, and to Truist Point, the City’s multi-use stadium. Patients travel from across multiple counties to receive specialized treatment and will be able to see first-hand the progress of the city’s downtown.
A significant upfit is planned for the new location with the investment expected to total $315,000. In assistance with this, High Point City Council authorized funding under the Building Upfit Incentive program for the project. The incentive will be paid as a cash grant post-performance.
“Dr. Bardelas and his team provide tremendous service to High Point and beyond with their specialized knowledge. We are grateful to see this expansion in High Point and in the downtown,” said High Point EDC director Sandy Dunbeck.
