High Point Public Library will celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month, a time in which the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card, by sponsoring a "refer-a-friend" library card campaign and a special book display.
The "refer-a-friend" library card campaign will take place throughout September. Through this program, library cardholders who refer a friend to get a card will be entered with the new card holder in a drawing for a book-themed gift basket. The winner will be announced in early October.
The library will also have a book display entitled "Oh, the Places You'll Go with Your Library Card!" in the lobby, featuring a selection of books set in locations based on the library cards from other states that the library has accumulated over the years.
From borrowing books, eBooks and audiobooks to getting homework help, learning new skills or attending a book club or story time, a library card helps everyone do more of what they enjoy, all without stretching their budget.
High Point Public Library, along with libraries everywhere, continues to adapt and expand services to meet the evolving needs of our community. To sign up for a library card or to learn more about the library's resources and programs, please visit https://www.highpointnc.gov/2328/Public-Library.
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the ALA and libraries work together in a national effort to ensure every child signs up for their own library card.
