Message from Director
The Museum has been closed for three weeks now, and our world has changed so much in that time. Our staff is experiencing many of the same disruptions and whirlwind of emotions that we know you are also dealing with. I’m proud of how quickly our staff has adapted to the changing circumstances, and rest assured, we have measures in place to make sure our artifact collection continues to be safe and secure while we are closed. We’re continuing to work on research and planning for upcoming exhibits, so we’ll be ready for your visits when we do re-open. Even though we can’t provide programming onsite right now, we will continue to share greater High Point history with you online through our website and social media.
Recognizing that we are in the middle of a historic event, we are also working on a plan to collect artifacts and document people’s experiences of the COVID-19 outbreak in High Point. We will need your help to compile a complete record, and we will be sharing more about how you can participate in this process in the coming weeks. One thing we know from history is that High Point has come through challenging periods like this before, and that knowledge provides some hope and encouragement that our community will survive this event as well. It can be hard to imagine now, but there will be a day when we can welcome you back into our Museum. We look forward to that day and wish you good health in the meantime!
