Message from Director

The Museum has been closed for three weeks now, and our world has changed so much in that time. Our staff is experiencing many of the same disruptions and whirlwind of emotions that we know you are also dealing with. I’m proud of how quickly our staff has adapted to the changing circumstances, and rest assured, we have measures in place to make sure our artifact collection continues to be safe and secure while we are closed. We’re continuing to work on research and planning for upcoming exhibits, so we’ll be ready for your visits when we do re-open. Even though we can’t provide programming onsite right now, we will continue to share greater High Point history with you online through our website and social media.

Recognizing that we are in the middle of a historic event, we are also working on a plan to collect artifacts and document people’s experiences of the COVID-19 outbreak in High Point. We will need your help to compile a complete record, and we will be sharing more about how you can participate in this process in the coming weeks. One thing we know from history is that High Point has come through challenging periods like this before, and that knowledge provides some hope and encouragement that our community will survive this event as well. It can be hard to imagine now, but there will be a day when we can welcome you back into our Museum. We look forward to that day and wish you good health in the meantime!

Jazz Appreciation Month

It’s Jazz Appreciation Month! We can’t meet in person for our regular Lunch and Learn digital concert, but you can still enjoy some jazz on your lunch break while you’re at home. Special thanks to our friends at the Lincoln Center for making these concerts available free online this month. We’ll provide a link to a new concert (via Facebook) the first three Mondays in April for you to enjoy during the week as your schedule allows.
Here's the first concert:
The Music of Miles Davis - Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis

High Point Arts Council

Community Partner Spotlight

Even though you can't visit the Centennial Station Arts Center at this time, you don't have to be present to enjoy live music. Each Tuesday the High Point Arts Council will feature a local artist on it's Facebook page. They will be broadcasting live from 7 to 8 p.m., so grab your favorite beverage, tune in and relax. A virtual tip jar link will be available to send tips directly to the artist. For more information about the Sidetrack Sessions at the Station, contact Todd Dupree, Arts Programs Manager, at 336-889-2787 ext. 26 or email.
