1. How can I find out what job opportunities are available within City of High Point?: A listing of current job opportunities may be viewed online 24 hours a day/7 days a week via the City of High Point Job Opportunities webpage or you may call the Job Hotline at 336-883-1107. You may also visit the Human Resources Department during business hours (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), to view and apply for posted job announcements electronically. 2. How do I apply for job(s) with the City of High Point?: You can apply online by viewing the Job Opportunities webpage.

3. I do not have a computer. How can I apply for a job(s)?: You may apply for job(s) at any location with internet access. Free internet access is available at the High Point Public Library at:

There are many other local Library branches (contact the location closest to you for hours of operation), or you may want to seek assistance from a friend or relative. 4. How do I know that my application has been received?: You will receive an automatic confirmation shortly after submission of your application. Receipt of this notification is an indication that you have successfully submitted your application.

5. How can I check the status of my application?: Normal time frame is 30 to 45 days from the closing date before you may or may not hear a decision, but you are welcome to call and check on the status of your application.

6. How long will my application remain "active"?: Applications remain active or on file until a hiring decision has been made. The City does not reactivate applications for future vacancies.

7. Does the City of High Point require applicants for employment to submit to a drug screen and physical examination?: As a condition of employment, all persons selected for employment are required to pass both a physical examination and a drug test. The city of high point is a drug-free workplace.

8. Can I submit a resume only?: No. The City of High Point requires a completed application. The employment application has been designed to provide information needed to make employment related decisions. An applicant may provide a resume as an attachment to the completed application.

9. How long does it take for the hiring manager to schedule interviews after a position closes?: Applications submitted for position vacancies are carefully screened by the Human Resources Department and the Hiring Department. Due to the volume of applications received, not all applicants are granted an opportunity to interview. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted either by telephone, letter or email, usually within 30 to 45 days after the advertised closing date.

10. What happens after I submit my application?: After the closing date, the applications are reviewed and screened by the hiring manager as an initial step in the selection and hiring process. The most competitive applicants are contacted for an interview.

11. Who should I contact to follow-up on my application?: Applicants who are selected for interviews will be contacted directly by Human Resources or the hiring department. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we do not notify each applicant individually regarding the status of the recruitment for the position. To check the status of your application, you may call the Human Resources Department at 336-883-3253.

12. Does the City of High Point also accept applications for job opportunities with the City of Greensboro, High Point Housing Authority, Guilford County, or other government agencies?: No. The City of High Point is a separate organization and accepts applications only for City of High Point job opportunities.

13. Are there any suggestions to help me complete an application?: Complete the entire application. In addition to full-time work experiences, list any relevant temporary, part-time, internships, volunteer and military work experiences. Include a resume if desired; however, a resume will not be accepted in lieu of the completed application. Be sure to include your complete education and training background and list any relevant registrations or certifications specific to the position you seek. Your application form is our primary source of information in considering you for employment and, therefore, should represent your best effort.

14. Can I apply for more than one job at a time?: Yes, you can apply for multiple job(s) that are currently open.

15. I missed the deadline. Can I still apply?: As with any position, once a closing date has passed, no application will be accepted or considered. Please continue to visit our website and apply for new jobs as they become available.

16. Will I automatically be considered for other job(s) if I previously submitted an application?: No. You must submit a separate application for all job(s) you are interested in.

17. How often do you post jobs?: Job opportunities are posted every 2 weeks.

18. Why is it important to read the entire job announcement?: The announcement includes the following important information: Salary, Position description, Knowledge and Abilities / Skills / Essential Task, Minimum qualifications and Deadline date.

19. Is there a job description for the position posted?: Copies of the job description are included in applications picked up in our office, otherwise, one can be mailed to you for any open job advertised.
