    Come learn about the science and history of gold mining in North Carolina. Gold was first discovered in NC in 1799, and recovering that gold still continues to this day. Learn about the chemistry of gold and the different technologies that have been used to help people get it from the ground and into their everyday lives. Also learn about the different kinds of rocks and minerals in the area and where else they found gold around the state. You can have a chance to try your hand at gold panning, too! All ages welcome. FREE. Drop-in.

  1. Global Youth Service Day

    April 22, 2017, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ High Point Public Library- Morgan Community Room

    This event is to engage youth ages 6-18 in service work. We will assemble literacy bags for homeless children that will contain a book, a notebook or journal, pen, pencil, and bookmark. Children attending the event will have the opportunity to make a bookmark, put together literacy bags for children in need and participate in an interactive storytelling session. We will also have a poetry competition for various ages and information tables for adults that are seeking employment or need career readiness assistance.
