The true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield and his wife, Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing. “With Belle’s influence, and the ideals of a young vicar’s son bent on change, Lord Mansfield’s role as Chief Justice forces him to address England’s role in slavery and the Atlantic Slave Trade.”
Sara Blanchett, Curator of Education for the High Point Museum
will facilitate the Q&A session.
