Keep High Point Beautiful strives to bring the goals of the national Keep America Beautiful organization home to our community. We believe that a difference can be made to better our community by calling on and organizing citizens to action who will protect the environment.
Winter and the holidays may seem like a time when things slow down in the beautification world but for us, it is just the opposite. We are taking advantage of this time to:
Attend the Keep America Beautiful National Conference
Work on long range strategic planning to best serve our community
Get our newly appointed Youth Advisory Council Members introduced into the world of beautification
Planning Winter Wipeout (Monday, Feb. 7 – Sunday, Mar. 6)
And we were even in the High Point Holiday Parade!
See? We are hard at work! If any of this sounds like something you are interested in becoming a part of, feel free to contact us at Rebecca.Coplin@highpointnc.gov
High Point Big Sweep: A Sweeping Success
On Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. we had 221 volunteers pick up more than 4,000 pounds of trash and 900 pounds of recycling at 29 different locations! We also collected more than 150 donated items that were distributed to local food banks to help combat food insecurity. This was a part of the Piedmont Triad Big Sweep, which helped address litter abatement across our entire region. Thank you to everyone who took part and we can't wait to see you at our next large cleanup: Winter Wipeout!
Summer Trash Smash was a success!
Neither rain, nor heat nor gloom was enough to stop Summer Trash Smash! Because of weather the event was extended to last from Saturday, Aug. 7- the afternoon of Sunday Aug. 8, but our, designated police and fire personnel were able to spot a lot of committed residents removing litter from their neighborhoods and/or beautifying the exterior of their home/property. We were happy to award them with gift cards!
Litter Litter Everywhere
We hear you, litter is really bad right now. This is partly due to the pandemic and some of this is because litter is just easier to see in the winter when vegetation has died back. To learn more about your options to help us tackle litter please go here.
