The Keep High Point Beautiful Youth Advisory Council application process is now open for 2020! We are excited to invite high school students to apply for this year’s KHPB Youth Advisory Council. Applications are being accepted now through September 30, 2020. If you are interested in a cleaner and greener High Point, we need your help as part of our team. We want to hear your ideas and vision as to how we can tackle environmental challenges while you gain firsthand experience on working to improve our community.
Covid-19 has altered a lot of our normal operations, but we haven't let that slow down the actions we have taken to make an impact in our community! We have started a garden at Ingleside Compost Facility to help combat food insecurity, we are working with community groups to see how we can work together to marry our mission and their needs, and we have had many productive Zoom meetings full of brand new ideas to help us learn and grow! Even in a pandemic we are still dedicated to our mission of:
Each year Keep High Point Beautiful board members drive around the majority of the city looking for litter. This is called Litter Indexing and each area is scored based on the amount of litter present. This data is used to determine where to focus cleanup efforts and education and also to track the rate of litter in the city. Since this effort began, we have actually seen a reduction in litter in many parts of the city!
